Where is Boracay Island

Boracay is an island in the Western Visayas Region or Region 6. It is the most western island in the Western Visayas and can be found in the province of Aklan.
It has borders to the north with the island province of Romblon and Mindoro to the North West.
Boracay island itself lies off the north west tip of the island of Panay.

The island is shaped like a large dogs bone and is only seven kilometers long and one kilometer wide at it’s most narrow point.

The ends of Boracay Island have rolling hills that meet cliffs that have been battered by the ocean for years on end, between these cliffs are quiet secluded beaches.
Beaches on Boracay:
The white beaches of Boracay are spread all around the island.
They can be divided into two basic areas, the beaches on the eastern shore or windward side of Boracay and the western side which is the leeward side of the island.
The western side beaches are sheltered from the wind and are ideal for lazing around.
This side of white beaches Boracay is the most popular area and where the majority of accommodation, restaurants and activities can be found.

The prominent beach on the western side is the four kilometer long White Beach. 
White Beach:
is the most famous photographed beach on Boracay and it is know wonder, it is captivating and once you have seen White Beach, it will be etched into your mind forever.

The four kilometers of beach are dotted with resorts, restaurants, shops and bars. This is the beach where you can completely relax, sun bake and read a book or enjoy the numerous high quality restaurants and beach bars that are on offer.

Do not forget the most romantic highlight of your stay at White Beach Boracay, the sunsets. They will captivate you and insist that you watch them every night. This is a sight I have never got bored of and I know you will not either.

Most of the activities are conducted from White Beach, everything from scuba diving, fishing trips to the on beach entertainment of beach volleyball. It is all here not to be missed.

Puka Beach:

is the second largest beach on Boracay Island and is also known as Yapak Beach or Puka Shell Beach. The beach is called Puka Beach due to the white Puka Shells that were foundand collected here and used as jewelry in the 70’s and 80’s
Bulabog Beach
is on the eastern coastline of Boracay and is renowned for its constant winds which attract windsurfers from around the globe. They converge here every year to participate in the Boracay International Funboard Cup.
There are numerous other Beaches on Boracay Island just waiting for you to explore and lay your footprints on.
When to go:
During High Season, ( October - June ) the winds come from the north east and White Beach is protected.
The wind blows out to sea, leaving the beach pristinely clean and generally calm.
It is also winter in the northern hemisphere, and tourists come in numbers in search of sun, heat, beach and party.

Low Season, ( July - September ) is when the winds changes and blow from the south west into White Beach.
A heaven for windsurfers and kite - boarders.
There is more rain than usual, but there are also fewer tourists, and better prices on accommodations.

The
Peak Season is when the tourists are at their height. This includes Christmas, New Year, Chinese New Year, and Holy Week (Easter Week).
Some resorts have a +10% to +25% premium on their rooms, and the island gets fully booked. Make sure you book as far in advance as possible.
